North East Water manages over 1200 kilometres of sewer mains that transfer sewage from customers'
properties to treatment plants.
We operate 21 plants which use a range of treatment processes, from lagoon-based facilities in smaller towns through to large mechanical treatment plants in Wodonga and Wangaratta. We also operate one trade waste wastewater facility. Combined, the plants treat over 11,000 megalitres of sewage every year.
Once the wastewater has been through the treatment process and meets standards set by the Environment Protection Authority, it is used for urban and agricultural irrigation or released into waterways.
