Supporting Growth in Indigo Shire
North East Water is currently able to support small-scale housing developments (up to five lots) in the following towns in Indigo Shire:
- Beechworth
- Rutherglen-Wahgunyah
- Yackandandah
North East Water is currently unable to support developments in Kiewa-Tangambalanga.
North East Water does not currently have any restrictions on developments in Chiltern and Barnawartha.
Planned infrastructure upgrades
Planning for $50 million of long-term infrastructure upgrades is underway to ensure future development is supported in Indigo Shire communities. Key projects (subject to capital funding approved in future price submissions) are:
- Tara Drive Barnawartha - Sewer Pump Station
- Beechworth Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade
- Beechworth Pressure Reducing Station
- Kiewa-Tangambalanga Water and Wastewater System Upgrades
- Rutherglen Trunk Water Main Augmentation
- Rutherglen-Wahgunyah Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade
- Yackandandah Water Treatment Plant Upgrade
- Yackandandah Water Treatment Plant – UV Installation
- Yackandandah Water Treatment Plant – Hexacovers Installation
