Treated recycled water released into Muckatah Depression at Yarrawonga

5 September 2024

Treated recycled water from the North East Water wastewater treatment plant in Yarrawonga will be released into the Muckatah Depression commencing on 5 September 2024.

Holding lagoons at the plant have reached their full capacity following the ongoing wet weather.

The release is needed to ensure that our dams do not overflow and is likely to continue for approximately four weeks.

The water being discharged has been treated and our monitoring program will take place throughout the discharge process.

We are working with our stakeholders during this process including NSW Environment Protection Authority, Department of Energy, Environment & Climate Action, Goulburn Murray Water, Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority, and Moira Shire Council.
