We operate numerous water supply systems throughout the region and extract water from a wide range of sources including storages, waterways and groundwater. These sources vary in water volume and their reliability during times of drought.
The Drought Preparedness Plan shows our response for when a shortfall in water availability occurs. A shortfall may happen during an extreme dry period or when a water quality event renders water unusable for a period of time. The Plan minimises the impact of these events on customers.
The Plan is tailored to each individual water supply system with trigger levels clearly indicating what actions are required and when. These actions may include augmentation with alternative water sources or water restrictions. The Plan is reviewed every five years or upon any supply system change.
