Commercial trade waste customers are sometimes called greasy waste customers, as they often use fixed equipment to treat trade waste before it is discharged to the sewer system.
Commercial customers include, but are not limited to the following businesses:
- car washes
- laundries
- restaurants
- cafes
- fast food and takeaways
- butchers
- bakers
- hotels
- hospitals
Becoming a commercial customer
Commercial customers who want to discharge trade waste into the sewer system must submit an Commercial Customer Application which will be assessed in accordance with our Commercial Risk Assessment.
Pre-treatment equipment (such as a grease trap) needs to be installed before trade waste can be discharged to the sewer system. Customers are required to maintain the pre-treatment device at an agreed frequency.
Commercial customers are also required to enter into an agreement with us before discharging waste from a property. An annual fee applies to all properties that discharge commercial trade waste. This fee will be based on the outcome of a risk assessment.
