High levels of blue-green algae have been detected in Lake Mulwala. Goulburn Murray Water has issued a red alert warning for recreational users.
North East Water draws water from Lake Mulwala to supply treated water to Yarrawonga and then to Bundalong, Tungamah, St James, Devenish and Goorambat. The Yarrawonga treatment plant is effective in removing the algae and any associated toxins. Treated drinking water is safe to consume.
