Sewage spill cleaned up in Tallangatta

North East Water is managing a minor sewage spill in Tallangatta following a blocked main on 1 July 2024.
The wastewater spilled from sewer access point at Queen Elizabeth Drive which reached an unnamed waterway that enters Lake Hume.
Clean-up and remediation works have been completed in the affected area. Water sampling and monitoring will continue over the next few days to understand any possible impacts to the waterway.
Signage has been erected in the vicinity and as a precaution we are advising people to avoid the area for the next few days.
The Environment Protection Authority has been notified of the spill.
