Online community forum to discuss Mt Beauty project
4 October 2021
Mt Beauty community members are invited to an online forum to discuss plans for a new raw water offtake project to help secure the town’s water supply.
North East Water will hold at least two online sessions for interested residents on Tuesday 12 October 2021.
Managing Director, Craig Heiner, said the online approach is necessary due to the large number of people who are keen to find out more information about this project.
“We would much prefer to meet people in person, but due to the pandemic restrictions on group gatherings, we have decided to go online”, Mr Heiner said.
“People will have to register for their chosen session before the meetings, and there will be a cap on participant numbers to give everyone an opportunity to have their say and ask questions.
“If demand is high and the sessions fill-up, we will look at holding further online forums.
“For those who don’t have internet access, our team is more than happy to discuss this project via phone.”
Mr Heiner added, “We know that some members of the community have concerns about this project and we’re looking forward to addressing these issues.”
“As an additional opportunity to incorporate the town’s values into the project, we will be organising a meeting with a group of key community representatives in person.
“We are also continuing to work closely with Alpine Shire and the local CFA to explore opportunities to help in the development of the Embankment Drive precinct.”
People can register for one of two sessions (11.00am - 12.30pm and 6.00pm to 7.30pm) on Tuesday 12 October 2021 via this link.
