Sewerage spill cleaned-up in Tallangatta

 25 August 2017

North East Water staff have cleaned up a sewerage spill in Tallangatta caused by tree roots blocking a sewer main in parkland behind the local police station.

The leaked wastewater entered the gully near the corner of Queen Elizabeth Drive and Lakeside Drive on Thursday 24 August 2017.

Executive Operations, John Day, said the Environment Protection Authority has been notified of the spill.

"The affected main has been unblocked and we have cleaned and disinfected the area", Mr Day said.

“Due to the saturation of the ground we are advising people to avoid contact with stormwater in the gully for several days.”
