Sewer pipe changes at Beechworth Historic Park

 23 March 2017

North East Water needs to increase the capacity of the sewer pipe that runs through the Beechworth Historic Park and will meet with residents to discuss several options.

Currently during heavy rain events within the town, there is an elevated risk of sewer spills due to the lack of capacity within the pipeline.

Executive Communications and Engagement, Ann Telford, said a community meeting will be held on Tuesday the 4th of April.

"We want to be confident we understand the values and concerns of residents regarding the potential impacts on the park", Ms Telford said.

"We held a similar community meeting on the issue last November, and while we had some great feedback, we want to provide another opportunity for input before we lock down a solution.

"The pipeline upgrade is part of a larger suite of investments planned for Beechworth's wastewater system and we value the local ideas and feedback on the project."

The meeting will take place at the Beechworth Memorial Hall on Tuesday 4 April 2017 November from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.
