North East Water has most affordable water bills in Victoria

 22 December 2016

For the second year in a row, the Essential Services Commission (ESC) has found that North East Water has the most affordable water bills in the state.

The result was released in the ESC’s 2015-16 Water Performance Report.

Managing Director, Craig Heiner, said residential customers pay an average of $885 per year compared to the state-wide average of $1048.

"We’re really proud of again being named as having the most affordable water bills in Victoria”, Mr Heiner said.

"Affordability of essential services is a real challenge for many households, so it’s great to be able to help reduce that pressure for people living in the North East."

Mr Heiner added, “The ESC report also highlighted several other major achievements related to industry service standards."

“We are one of the best performers in terms of reliability of water supply and we had the best sewer reliability in the state.

"North East Water scored the best performance improvement related to supply interruptions as well as the second best call centre performance."

Mr Heiner said "“Overall the ESC report highlighted some great achievements in 2015-16 and our aim is to keep improving our customer service performance in the years to come."
