Regional Growth Strategy

North East Water’s is currently developing its new Regional Growth Strategy (RGS). The purpose of the RGS is to assess evidence and propose options for directions that support regional growth, specifically urban growth opportunities to 2051 in relation to new residential and industrial development.

These options may serve to expand and sustain the future business base of North East Water. The RGS considers population growth and land use change in the context of economic development directions in order to determine implications for urban water servicing.

A draft version of the Regional Growth Strategy is attached below. Public feedback has now closed and the RGS will be refined over the coming weeks before being submitted to the North East Water Board in March.
